移民署(immigration)在你入境前會針對旅客問一些問題

大部分英文不太好的人，通過移民署(immigration)時都會有些緊張
其實不用緊張的!海關會判別你懂不懂英文!
基本上海關問你的問題不會太複雜，只要抓住幾個訣竅，也能輕輕鬆鬆通過海關的考核喔!!

以下這幾個問題是海關通常會問的:
Where do you come from? 你從哪裡來?
Where are you from? 你從哪裡來?
Where are you coming from? 你從哪裡來?
What’s your nationality? 你的國籍是?
(光是問國籍就有這幾種不同的問法)

What's the purpose of the trip?　你此行的目的?
What's the purpose of your visit?　你此行的目的?

How long will you be staying here? 你會在這裡留多久?
How long are you planning to stay here?您計畫停留多久呢？

Where will you stay? 你會住哪裡?

以下是簡短的對話，讓大家想像一下場景吧!
I: immigration officer 移民官
G: guest 客人

一般版: (大多數國家)
I: Hello! May I see your passport? 請給我看你的護照
G: Here you are. 在這裡
I: Where do you come from? 你從哪裡來?
G: Taiwan. 台灣
I: What's the purpose of the trip?　你此行的目的?
G: Sightseeing. 觀光
I: Where will you stay? 你會住哪裡?
G: Landis Hotel. 麗緻飯店
I: How long will you be staying here? 你會在這裡留多久?
G: Five days. 5天
I: Here’s your passport. Have a nice day.
你的護照在這裡。祝你有個美好的一天

美國版: (也就是機車版，自從911後去美國就變得很麻煩)

I: Welcome to the United States. May I see your passport and arrival documents, please?
歡迎來到美國。麻煩出示您的護照與入境文件。
G: Here you are. I hope everything is in order.
在這裡。希望一切都沒問題。
I: (Looking at documents) Can I see your return ticket please?
(看文件)請出示您的回程機票。
G: I didn't know I needed it. I bought an e-ticket online, and I only have my boarding pass for this flight.
我不曉得我需要這麼做。我在網路上買電子機票，我手邊只有這班飛機的登機證。
I: Next time, print out an e-ticket receipt or a complete itinerary showing all of your flights.
下次請印出電子機票收據或完整的班機行程表。
G: I will make sure it doesn't happen again.
我保證下次會準備好。
I: You didn't fill out Form I-94 properly. You missed the boxes for “Address While in the United States” and “City and State.”
您的 I-94 入境表沒填妥，少填了「在美國的住址」和「城市及州名」這兩格。
G: Oh, I'm sorry. I overlooked those. I must be jet-lagged.
喔，我很抱歉，我漏看了。一定是時差害的。
I: You're going to have to step aside and complete the form, I'm afraid.
我想您恐怕得到一旁，將表格填完整。

◎單字解釋:
document n. 文件
in order phr. 按順序;適當的
return ticket n. 回程機票
e-ticket n. 電子機票
receipt n. 收據
itinerary n. 旅程;路線
overlook v. 看漏;忽略
jet-lagged a. 有時差現象的
step aside phr. 退出;讓位
complete v. 完成
form n. 表格
